Design for strategy and understanding

Welcome!

Are you looking for a consultant who can help move your project from concept to reality?

If so, you have come to the right place.

My aim is to help you clarify your vision, develop a plan to make it happen, and design the solution that supports your content.

Your project may be big or small, clear-cut or open-ended—and I want to hear
more about it. Bring me on board at the very beginning of your
initiative, and I will help to shape the direction of the effort through a review of your goals, your content, and the needs of your users. Once the direction of the project starts to take shape, I will turn my attention to designing
the right solution. Along the way, I can assist with
project management, content, and image development.

I provide these services in combination, or individually, depending on your project:

  • Graphic, Information, and User Experience Design
  • Concept Facilitation
  • Strategic Planning
  • Project Management
  • Content Development Oversight
  • Writing and Editing
  • Illustration, Mapping, and Image Creation

Background

I started my practice in 2003. For 15 years prior to becoming a consultant, I was a designer and manager at ThoughtForm Inc., in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

My customers value my approach. I have a friendly, unassuming style, but I ask challenging questions. I seek to understand the broader business context and goals of my clients, and then I tailor solutions that make sense for each situation. I have worked with a wide variety of organizations, from Fortune 500 companies to small non-profits.

When I'm not working with my clients, I'm teaching design to the next generation of designers. I am an instructor for Carnegie Mellon University’s Human Computer Interaction Institute, and I've been teaching design at the college level for nearly a decade.

I hold a bachelor’s degree in graphic design and a master’s degree in public management, both from Carnegie Mellon University.
